Our Upholstery Cleaning Procedure
Step 1 – Upholstery Cleaning Inspection
Proton technicians will inspect the upholstery for any damage, spots or sun fading. The cleaning process can’t remove these. The client will be advised of any areas of concern before the cleaning process begins.
Step 2 – Identify Fabric
The technician will determine the type of fiber makeup of the upholstery. Then determine a suitable detergent for the job.
Step 3 – Dry vacuum the Fabric
This step involves the removal of dry soil by vacuuming the upholstery. Dry soil is removed easier when dry and not wet. Soils such as hair, crumbs, and lint if removed first, will facilitate the hot water extraction cleaning method in step 6.
Step 4 – Pre-Spray the Fabric
Using the latest bio-degradable chemicals, we will completely spray your fabric. This process helps emulsify the trapped soil and break it down so it can be vacuumed and removed through our hot water extraction process.
Step 5 – Agitate the Pre-Spray
With a soft brush, the upholstery surface is softly brushed encouraging separation of soils and bacteria.
Step 6 – Hot Water Extraction
Upholstery is injected with hot steam to dislodge the soils and help loosen any dirt or bacteria. The debris is then picked up by a wet vacuum.
Step 7 – Deodorize and Sanitize
Your upholstery will be freed from bacteria and odour during the hot water extraction phase.
Step 8 – Drying and Protection
Depending on the level of air movement and humidity, your upholstery will be dry in a few hours. If required a fabric protectant can be applied which will protect your fibers from absorbing soils and spills. Thus increasing the life of your upholstered furniture and reducing maintenance required.
